Its going to happen and we never like it. But here it goes. Cat vomiting stinks.
Most of the time there is nothing to be concerned with. Unless your concerned about the carpeting, the expense of spot removers, and the labor and effort to remove the spot. Now if the little cuddly fur ball has a tendency to do this a lot. Say more than once a week.
Time to go see the Vet
Dr. Richard Goldstein. Cornell University Hospital for Animals, reports that cats are frequently brought in because of frequent vomiting. Age or breed doesn’t matter. Cat owners are concerned and want they kitty checked out. He states the reasons for cat vomiting can be wide and varied but they do need to be checked if it is happening very much.
Reasons cat owners go to their vet or animal hospital include the obvious disgorging of hairballs and ingesting
- pieces of string or yarn
- human medications
- pieces of string and yarn
- leaves of poisonous plants
- or anything lying on the floor
- spoiled cat food
So what this tells all of us is to keep the floor clean! Cats will eat most anything on the floor.
But, your cat vomiting isn’t always your lack of housekeeping.
Many other causes of cat vomiting include
- internal parasites
- inflammatory bowel disease
- stomach cancers
- kidney disease
You get the picture. Lots of reasons other than hairballs.
And some are pretty serious.
Don’t rely on Google to be your doctor. Go see your vet when you notice your cat vomiting frequently.
Let the veterinarian give her a thorough examination.
It may save your kitty’s life and you the expense of a new carpet.
